Contents
This lecture on the Foundations of Research complements seminars of the same module. Many such seminars exist, each given by a chair of the faculty of computer science. The lecture focuses on the theoretical concepts of scientific work: conducting research and communicating and discussing its results, e.g., in the form of a paper or thesis.
This semester (because the module of this lecture is brand new), the lecture will be integrated with the Seminar Communicating Autonomous Vehicles of our chair.
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for joining, though basic literacy in conducting practical scientific work is advantageous.
Learning Outcome
In the course of the lecture, students learn: The foundations of scientific working (in terms of analysis, hypothesis generation, and evaluation). The context of scientific work (in terms of outlets and types of publications). How to create a scientific work (literature research, structure, problem statement, and proofs).
General Information / Methods
This course will be held in English (German, if universally preferred) and all the course material is available in English. Course material will be distributed/collected via OPAL.
All slides will be presented in a weekly on-campus meeting.
Questions? Comments? Join the discussion in our Matrix Room #nsm-course-hs:tu-dresden.de (reachable from the TU Dresden Matrix server) or add a post to our OPAL forum!
