DECT NR+ — yes the successor of the DECT used by your grandmother’s phone — is an emerging wireless standard designed for ultra-low latency and high reliability, making it ideal for real-time applications like IoT, smart city infrastructure, and wireless audio monitoring. As a key component of the 5G ecosystem, DECT NR+ complements 5G by enabling deterministic communication in scenarios where milliseconds — or even µs — matter, such as autonomous vehicles, audio, or critical utility monitoring. By bridging the gap between legacy systems and next-generation connectivity, DECT NR+ promises to improve urban environments with efficient, scalable, and responsive communication solutions.
Goals of the thesis
The goal of this thesis is the development of a specific part — e.g. the Linklayer — of DECT NR+ as an OMNeT++ simulation model and the comparison with a real testbed.
Requirements
- Experience with C++ and OMNeT++
