DECT NR+ for Remote Control of UAVs
MA: Master's Thesis (or Diploma Thesis / Diplomarbeit)
DECT NR+ is a novel radio standard by ETSI and the first non-cellular 5G standard, designed for ultra-low latency and high reliability (uRLLC). It operates in a dedicated frequency band reserved exclusively for DECT devices, enabling coordinated spectrum access without the licensing overhead of cellular.
This makes it a natural fit for short-range, deterministic communication — scenarios where every millisecond of jitter between two devices matters. Goals of the thesis
Goals of the thesis
The goal of this thesis is to test whether a DECT NR+ link is a reliable, low-latency data link between a drone pilot’s controller and the UAV. The work includes conceptualizing the transmission pattern and building a measurement setup to capture real-world latency figures.
Requirements
- Experience with C++
- Embedded programming
